Wedding venues and DJs

My first post here, although I've been browsing post here for a while now!
I'm trying to organise our wedding for around March 2009...it's going to be a pretty low budget affair, and we thought about having a reception in a village hall or similar. Problem is, I haven't lived in this area (East yorkshire/Beverley) for long, and village halls don't seem to appear on the web, so I'm struggling to locate them. Has anyone got any experience of the great small venue detective hunt, or even better have some suggestions for venues in the area?

Also, I'm not sure what to do about a DJ...I know one vaguely through work, but I'm reluctant to ask him, as I feel like I'm 'poaching' him from the place I work at. Does anyone know any good local DJs, or have any suggestions of how I can find a good one?

We found the yellow pages is a good starting point for some venues.

But also just when you are out and about keep you eyes open. Also asking in local shops and pubs.

We are having out reception at a pub that has a massive barn on the side of it.

I am sure once you start looking you will find lots of places!
