We have found somewhere to rent, it's a friend of a friend.
There is no tenancy agreement or anything like that, what do (if anything) I need for the OR?
Thanks
Izabel

Hi Izabel,
You would need something from your friend stating move in date etc and how much rent you will be paying. Also if your friend can only offer place for a certain length of time then you may need that.
The OR seem to be fairly friendly, reading the posts on hear. so as much info as you can will be in your favour.
Goodluck. im looking to rent too before BR...Does your friend know anyone in newcastle looking to rent out to me?? lol
Dave.

Regardless of whether you go BR or not, you should try to get something in writing regarding your tenancy - something that confirms various things such as the date you move in, the amount of rent you pay & at what frequency, what the rent includes & what it doesn't, the length of your tenancy & how much notice needs to be given on either side, that sort of thing. There's nothing wrong with renting from friends, but both sides need to protect their rights, & it's best that everyone knows where they stand from the beginning, so that if things aren't working out further down the line they know what steps to take to resolve them. If neither side has had to deal with tenancy agreements before, you could speak to a housing advice centre, Shelter or the CAB & see what advice they have to offer.
