Hi, this is my first ever post on anything so please fogive me if I have cocked it up. In November when I am out of my tie in period with The bank of Scotland I will be in the position of being able to pay of the remainder of my mortgage in cash ( about 18k) I got to this state thanks to advice from MSE, can anyone tell me the best way to do this ,ie with the least amount of charges. thanks a lot in advance.

contact your bank and ask them what fees you will have to pay.
check what rate you are paying on your mortgage now and dont forget
ISA,s which are paying 6.5% TAX free.
you might be better off filling you isa allowance this tax year and next ( after april ) than paying off the mortgage !!!
if this earns you more interest than you would pay on the mortgage I
would carry on paying the mortgage for a little longer and build up your savings in tax free ISA,s GOOD LUCK0 -
Thanks a lot for the advice Dimbo, thats definitely food for thought. The bulk of my savings are currently in ISAs although I havent used this years allowence yet for either myself or my better half. lol I wish I had never asked now, I hate paper work, cheers.
