in Cutting tax
I do mystery shopping, and my life would be made so much easier if I had an Eee PC so I could enter results as I travel home from a visit (I live an hour out of London and have WiFi on my train) rather than eat into valuable time at home with my partner. I could also check in more regularly during the day to pick up jobs if and when they came up.
My partner is a musician and can claim computer equipment back in his tax, can I do a similar thing if/when I purchase an Eee PC? I would pretty much only be using it for mystery shopping as I have other computers for work and study.

Got £820 back from HSBC! Now entering comps like mad with the hope of winning a nice long holiday....

Various strands of answer, slightly contradictory between each other!
1. Why not ring the IR and ask them, stressing that you have other PCs for other work?
2. A PC is a bit of an expensive item to claim against MS. I did claim 50% of a laptop in the tax year 06-07, but I had done a short but well paid consultancy which was the real reason for buying the laptop, which I now use only for MS.
3. If you asked this question on the 'up your income' MS thread, you might get a reply from Timne, who is 'our' wonderful accountant on the thread!
Hope this helps - re-reading it, it's just random thoughts, really.....:oEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

Thanks for your answers! I do quite well out of MSing so can afford it, I'd pick up more jobs but I am conscious of it eating into my time with my partner and as I have quite a long commute it seems smart to come up with a mobile solution. I work full time in another job, so can afford an Eee PC, which is a fantastic little device which neatly falls halfway between a laptop and a PDA. They're about £200-£250 on Ebuyer so not a £500 plus job which would be excessive! I'll go repost this on the Up your Income thread!Got £820 back from HSBC!
