Is it possible to make up a scone dough, roll it out , cut into scone shapes and then freeze them? If so, how do I then go about baking them after I take them out the freezer?

Open freeze them on trays and then bag them up. You can then cook them from frozen at about gas 6 for 15 - 18 mins or so.0 -
Could someone please post a scone recipe that works
a one which is freezable would be great. I've made rock cakes from a scone recipe and managed to make some which wouldn't even pass as rock cakes, even the birds left them!!!
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
8 oz SR Flour or plain flour and 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt
2 oz butter
1/4 pint milk (or buttermilk)
Mix flour, salt & rub in butter. Add milk to make dough and roll to 1/2 inch (1 cm). I just use a knife to cut squares so that I don't have to re roll... lazy moo that I am!
Hi lil_me, hope that helps. The best way is not to overhandle the dough once you have made it and to make sure the oven is hot. (gas 8 for 8 mins or so)0 -
How much sultanas would be suitable for that amount of mix? I've got a few bags full so may aswell do sultana ones.
Sorry, so many questions

No worries, if you are doing sultana scones add about an ounce of sugar and 2oz of fruit. This is the text book answer
I lob in a handful with some sugar. This is the Morwenna's house answer :rotfl:0 -
Thanks morwenna for the fast response. I will try that.Jasmine0

Just remember to cook them from frozen - don't thaw them out first as they don't taste so nice then.0

hi
i use powdered milk in my recipe, cos i find they rise more.
i use
225g SR flour
50g marg
50g sugar
1tsp baking powder
1tbsp dried milk
75g sultanas
cold water to mix
make up the dough and when you cut out the scones, don't twist the cutter.
i leave the dough about 3/4'' thick so they rise loads! cook at 220 for about 10mins
lovely eaten warm with butter!!
