Think eye test could be wrong!! please help

I had my eyes tested 18 months ago and was issued with this prescription

Right eye: sph -3.75 cyl -0.25 axis 75
Left eye: sph -3.50 cyl -0.25 axis 155

my left eye has been playing up recently feels a bit blurry and having headaches so i had an eye test yesterday, she said i have an asigmatism in my right eye and my prescription is now

Right eye: sph -4.25 cyl +0.50 axis 165
Left eye: sph -4.25 cyl DS

Could this be right? I am not convinced and have ordered glasses costing £260!!!

Thanks

Lea

Not being a medical person, all I can suggest is you ask for a re test or go some where else and ask form another test.

If it was 18 months ago you'd be nearly due a new test now anyway...personally I wouldn't shell out for glasses with an 18 month old prescription given how much they cost, I'd stump up the other £20 for a new test.

Seems very unlikely to me they got it wrong though...

Hi I have had an eye test yesterday and ordered glasses for the new prescription. I am just confused why in 18 months my astigmatism has gone from my left eye and the right eye has gone from -0.25 to + 0.50 is this possible???

Sorry, read too fast :) I'd double check with the optician to be on the safe side...

I think I'd get a second opinion if I was in your position. My local Tesco are doing free eye tests so it may be worth trying yours.
    Good luck

perfectly possible, the old prescription is written in -cyl while the new one is in +cyl (opticians can work in either) if they transpose the right eye into -cyl for you it will read -3.75 -0.50 @75 which is only a very small change to the astigmatic correction. dont worry about it, its just a different way of writing the prescription.
as for the left eye 0.25 is the smallest amount of astigmatic correction and yes it can be found to change or go away - the big change in this eye is the power and if you are having a problem with this eye you could expect a change in the left.

I really wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure they will be fine, but if you can't see properly with the new glasses, the optician will have to put them right.
