I wanna stay warm in an open top car

In a few weeks time I'm going once again to The Daffodil Run in a 1932 open top car. We leave home before 6am and last year drove down the motorway in freezing fog for several hours. I never thought I'd ever be warm again even though I had several pairs of trousers on and many socks and tops - I finished the day getting sunburned in a vest top and cropped trousers.
I've looked at snoods on ebay - helps keep my hair back too - but anything else you can suggest? I have reuseable gel handwarmers and may also take a hot water bottle!
Thanks Catt xx

My first thought, put the car on a trailer, and drive down in comfort

I suppose you could cut a hole in a plastic bag large enough for your head and arms put that over you, now you're windproof, possibly even sweaty too come to think of it. Or you could put newspaper around your torso to protect you against the wind you might avoid the sweat buildup. Put some socks around your kneck to keep the warmth in, or wrap yourself in a space blanket.
Other than that, get a new hobby
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Aldi have got motorcycle undies on special on Monday, they might be worth looking at!

* wonders what the daffodil run is* ..... i suggest "long johns", thermal vest, bed socks and gel hand warmers. You could also put plastic sandwich bags over your socks before puting your feet into your shoes and cut 3 holes into a black bin liner 1 for your head and the other 2 for your arms the plastic will retain the heat and stop the wind!"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0

Maybe raising money for Marie Curie Cancer fund?:wave:0 -
No - not the run as in Marathon - a run as in a car ride

I do have thermal undies - last year I wore them under cropped trousers which were under jeans with several pairs of socks t-hirts and jumpers. You can't imagine the cold! I wondered if there was a miracle cure or anyone with experience, but I guess it'll just be another case of a suitcase full of clothes! Mitchelin man look here I come! :rotfl:
Don't want a new hobby. This is OH's Dads hobby and we take his other car - its great fun, very sociable and all the locals come out to wave. OH's dad uses the trailer to take the older car down as it can't drive that far, so we have to drive ours to the start.0 -
Are you the driver or passenger, if a passenger I would get in a sleeping bag

passenger. Didn't think of that! Will have to dig it out when I visit Mum and Dads on Thursday! Thanks!0
