Personally i feel bad when my friends just watch my items never mind when they offer to bid to build it up.
Also dont you run the risk of owing yourself money if you out bid a real person?
Personally i wouldnt risk it - i would stick to the fetes and things that others have suggested as for me it has the added bonus of no ebay fees
xxIf I have items for sale, I offer them to friends first, & if they're not interested, I put them up for auction either on eBay or elsewhere. Not only would I ever allow friends to bid with no intention of buying the items, they'd never agree to do it. I also wouldn't create a second ID so as to do it myself. It's better to earn £10 honestly than £20 through deception. Some people are so quick to try to work the system that they forget that an artificial price hike could result in those who are genuinely interested saying that the item's now outside their price range & not bothering to bid at all, resulting in no sale & a good bit of wasted time.

Well items still sell at the inflated prices anyway.
