Don't know of any particular deals but good place to perform a comparison search is http://www.moneysupermarket.com/RoadsideRescue/"I am not Geoff Vadar, I'm Darth Vadar"0

Thanks Phil, some rather cheap deals here. Anyone heard of GEM Motoring Assist???? They seem miles cheaper than the rest, is there a reason for this.......................................I say what I like, I like what I say!0

GEM is a charity not a profit-making entity like RAC, AA and the rest (in fact, like they used to be before they sold out).
We've been members for ages and they are good value and reliable. They use local recovery agents who turn up quickly and generally sort the problem out!
The main difference between GEM and other recovery companies is that they operate on a "pay and claim" basis - you have to pay the breakdown people (and they accept credit cards) and then claim it back. They have ALWAYS processed my claims by return post when I've claimed and I mean within 3 days door-to-door.
They often have "extra months" type deals on the website (not right now though!) but check it out: http://www.gemrecovery.co.uk/
It's £50 for a year's full cover. Very cheap to add a second member at the same address too and then they cover any car either of you drives.0 -
Thanks MarkyMarkD, think I will give them a try!! At less than half the price of the main players i thought they might be iffy. Cheers.I say what I like, I like what I say!0

Also, just noticed that if you apply through the link that Phil supplied you save a further £10 when applying for you and your partner. (Price on GEM website is £59.95, on the link its £50). Thanks again!!I say what I like, I like what I say!0

Well done Towner and thanks Phil - didn't realise it was cheaper via the indirect route.0

My son uses Autonational Rescue ifyou join online they give you 15 months for the price of 12. The all singing service is about £57 I think have not checked it out recently0

I use first call which is £39.95 for 12 months.
This is NOT pay and claim.
It is platinum style cover e.g. roadside, recovery at home and onward travel but does not do Europe.
It's the cheapest I found for that combination if you don' want pay & claim.
Haven't used them yet though so can't say whether they are any good.0
