Treasurers' accounts

I am the treasurer for a club. We have £1600 in our only account (Nationwide) earning very little interest.
I would like us to have a cheque account and a higher interest account, preferably with the same bank to make my life easier. Which is the best bank or building society to offer me these facilities as a club treasurer please?

Have you seen the Small business and charity organiser's board, you might get someone running a charity account who can advise on a good account. My DH is treasurer for a couple of local organisations, I will ask him for some suggestions when he gets in later.

[They don't offer cheques it seems, but if you use the internet, I imagine, any payments can be made straight to the payee's account]

Thanks for the advice. I followed first responder's advice and transferred my query to Small Business/charity forum. Someone there also recommended Alliance and Leicester. I have received their info. pack and will be following it up. Thanks again, Donald.
