Please forgive me...but

I have not spent on my CC's for over 4 years (apart from petrol etc on another card which I pay off monthly). In that 4 years, using many 0% CC's, I have reduced the balance from £7,500 to £370, which will be cleared in a few months.

However, I have just got a new 0% on purchases HSBC CC for the following reason. We are completely refitting a bathroom and expect to spend £4-5K on new Shower, Bath, tiles etc. She who looks hot recently completed a share save scheme and had to take the money. She decided that a new bathroom was required.

I deposited it in Icesave to earn some good interest (£480 p/a) meanwhile able to buy the bathroom equipment interest free. I will pay the balance at the end of the 0% interest free period.

Not debt free I know, but can I be forgiven ?

  • You should be more than forgiven, you should be applauded!

If u get £480 int on ur money, and u pay in full before the deal ends, technically u saved that money off the price of the suite!

    Well done :T

  • Read Martin's article differentiating good debt from bad debt! This is a good debt if you stick by your plan.

  • Well, I purchased the bathroom fitments, all other materials and tools on my 0% HSBC Credit card. Yesterday, I cleared the balance on my last interest free payment.

So, apart from a small mortgage debt, I am debt free again. Or so I thought.

She who looks hot has just decided that a new Kitchen is required. Oh well, must look out for another 0% CC.

A new kitchen eh? Revamp the old one - either change the cupboard doors or paint them and buy new handles. Paint the tiles too with special tile paint. That will do until you and she who must be obeyed save up enough to buy a new one:D
