Hi Not sure if you'll get this reply as you asked your question in August.....However I have over the last 2 weeks received 2 calls a day every working day from their very sarcastic call agents.
It transpires that MBNA have handed my account over to them to sort out.
Trying to tell them that CCCS will be in touch or that my circumstances haven't changed since I spoke to them (the day before) seems to fall on very deaf ears.
I tried to point out last Thursday of last week that this consistant type of contact was near on harrassment, this got met with a sarcastic chuckle and I was then informed that 3 calls a day is actually harrassment..........Has anybody else had contact from this company.
More to the point has anybody got a good way of dealing with them, I don't want to be too rude, and don't know if avoiding the calls is the right way to go. As you've probably guessed all very new to this debt management game, my debt management before september was ignoring bills. :rolleyes:0 -
Write to them and tell them that you will only deal with them in writing. Send it recorded delivery. They will ignore it and keep calling. Write down when they call and after ten days of calls contact the office of fair trading and complain. The OFT will then put a stop to it.

Thanks for the advise, today is the first day without a call - perhaps posting here has been a good omen........... :j0

That 3 calls a day thing is utter rubbish - if they say that again state that "harasment is not determined from the amount of times a company call within a day but if the company causes alarm and destress to the idividual" being in debt is not a criminal offence dont let these people bully you!!!0

I had a similar experience with MBNA themselves, they were calling at 8AM and 10PM and on Sundays.
I told them several times that CCCS were handling, gave them my reference number, but they just would not leave me alone. in the end, I told them, just after they asked if I was me, that I was recording the conversation, then laid out very clearly that I did not want them to call, reminded them that CCCS were handling and gave them a date when they could call me for the result.
Success - they have not called back since.
The other thing that worried me was that they never once asked me any security questions other than to confirm my name, for all they know I could have been the babysitter! There are many paths to tread to find true financial enlightenment, some of them are clear of obstacles, others have huge piles of doggie DooDoo in them in which one can easily tread. The journey is not made easier by the fact that the financial institutions blind fold us before we set out on our route.

Tell them and write as well that you will only communicate by letter. When they phone, say Hallo and then when you know it is them just put the receiver down beside the phone and walk away. It will make a noise, may take 15 minutes, when the call has been cut off. I was told that these people are on commision and get a list of numbers to call or get paid for each call they make. If they get nowhere with you and they are unable to use thier phone because you have not replaced your receiver they cannot earn and will start missing you out! It worked for me, see my previous post abnout Naturally Close who phoned me continuously even though I did not owe them any money. I found Trading Standards very helpful, they know about these sort of firms and they are doing a lot of work on them and want to here all the details so they can put a case together. I believe a debt collecting firm called Cavendhish Black are being wound up because they behave in this way. Just think what sort of people these are who can get so nasty and serious about their work, especially as it is not a job to be proud of, they are so unprofessional.Loretta0 -

I had heard this too, but only if they get a payment from you.

I work for a debt management company that is is the voluntary sector, ie that does not charge for any work that it does for people, and it is correct about a number of companies chasing payments the callers get a commission. Also a lotof these companies use an automated dialling system and the people calling do not see case information until it is on the screen.
If you are in negotiations with the creditor or using a DMC you have to tell the caller to put a hold on the automated call back whilst the negiotiations are on going. If you do not ask for it you will automatically be called back within a very short frame time.
As for Credit Solutions Ltd, if you end up with a repayment schedule with them, I suggest that you pay them, if possible by standing order, as I have had a number of clients this year being chased for "payments that have not been made" and it then turns out that cheques are cashed by CSL but not credited to the clients account and we end up having to prove payments have been made by sending copies of bank statements showing cheque details and it becomes a nightmare.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -
Client had a debt sent to Credit Solutions (CSL). Several phone calls. Have to repeat the same explanations each time. They never ring back when they promise. The keep you on hold for 15-30 mins. Awful company.:grouphug: Things can only get better.0

Debt collecting agencies can give you a lot of grief, if you get really fed up with them constantly ringing, try Loretta's tip of leaving them to listen to silence. I tried this for the first time today and it felt great! There are many paths to tread to find true financial enlightenment, some of them are clear of obstacles, others have huge piles of doggie DooDoo in them in which one can easily tread.
