Dont know how to do the jazzy quote thing but hair you are allowed £10 per adult and £3 per child. They will not allow internet unless dh needs it for work. The h/k could go up a little. Dentist and perscriptions could go up a little(i think:o )what about opticians?.I would say add more on for xmas and also clothes.Gas and electric seems a little low.Do you have pets as they sometimes allow £20 for pets.Hope i got that all right,if not one of the experts will soon put me right;) .Dalip

hi thanks for your reply, my hubby does not religously use it for work purposes, however my eldest uses it a lot for her school projects, surely i would be allowed it for this reason, and if they dont allow it surely they dont take my pc away......do they???
  • When I did my OH I/E I lumped the BT landline, internet and mobiles all into one, never listed the internet provider etc, and just claimed £65.00 and that was allowed. I never mentioned our pc at all.

    Tax Credits???????
Let me get this straight. When OR was selfemployed, you assumed that the salary would be good and take you over the threshold for being able to claim - so you never did??
And you are not claiming now???

https://www.entitledto.co.uk At a very very rough estimate (based on figures above) you should be getting about £10pw. It may not be great, but its money. Phone them on Tuesday morning ASAP!!

    hi skylight

his salary was supposed to be too much to be allowed tax credits so did not bother, and a few years ago we owed them some as apparantley they overpaid us , so that was another reason we did not have any.

I was under the impression that we could not apply now as hubby is going br, when i apply do i tell them that or not, really confused now

On the actual BR forms themselves I just lumped all 3 into one and put total of £65.00 in box for 'telephone charges' ;)

Call the Tax Credits. It is based solely on earnings and has nothing whatsoever to do with going BR. It has nothing to do with them so you dont need to tell them anything.

All they need are his wage details. Get together all the information for last tax year (06/07) and this one (07/08). Of course we are right at the end of this tax year, so depending on figures, perhaps it may be better to wait until the new tax year (08/09) as tax credits are mainly based on the previous years income. You will have to guestimate the current years income (and keep it updated if he gets loads of overtime etc as the last thing you need is an overpayment!)

You will need to work out what his income was (before tax) for the years. The amounts need to be accurate, and needs to be split into self employment / benefits (if claimed) and employment. They will also want to know how many hours on average he works.
