National Australia Life Conned us !

This is our first post so I hope I am in the right area.
To quickly explain we are looking to change our current mortgage as coming
out of fixed rate period, and on speaking to advisor it came up about protection, and I explained to him what a waste of money as I had previous experience with National Australia Life when I was made redundant. I called them and explained that I was out of work, and even though I dont remember full conversation ( early 2004) I do remember the girl on the phone saying that the protection would not kick in for 3 months( this is why I remeber as after asking why, the remark back was "really we should have 3 months of payments in the bank to cover us in such a situation")
Apart from being a bit peeved I did not get anywhere with them, however I have been going through old docs that thankfully my better half has kept and low and behold I came accross NAL document which states payments kick in after 1 month. Any ideas on if and how I can take this forward. Do I have a case to make a claim, and if so who against.
Any thoughts or experiences appreciated

Do I have a case to make a claim
Dont know.
PHI/income protections have deferment periods you can choose. These are typically 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.
Is the document you have found your personal schedule that states your deferment period is 1 month or is it part of the standard policy documents that say from 1 month?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. Thanks for your reply
It states both on the Certificate of Insurance and
on the quote that are signed by both of us
It states "If you are unemployed for 30 Consecutive days we will pay a benefit equal to your monthly repayment. This benefit will be calculated from the 1st day of your unemployment"
Would have copied but not allowed to attach things

Right, so this is not a PHI but an ASU policy. In which case the 1 month info would be correct. However, you do have to have the policy for a certain length of time before unemployment cover commences. This can typically be 6-12 months. This is to stop people taking it out when they think they may be made redundant. It could be that period that was referred to?
How long had you had it before you attempted to claim?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. This was taken out and signed End 2001 and my unemployment was
early 2004
The difficulty I see is do I have to prove or disprove anything
I cant see sending them a letter saying you didnt pay out and then they respond with well ok then we will pay you £x
This thing did mess me up quite bad financially, it was only last year
that we sort of got back on our feet
I would like to
A, Request the mortgage payments that were not paid by them to be paid
or
B, The monies we paid to them to refunded
or really both because they did not provide the service
Thanks again0
