cHALLENOR FREE PROPERTY SEMINARS ARE RIP OFF

i attended afree property seminar in birmighan in July 2007 by challener property. we were only four people after 30 minutes talk. we were told that they had discounted apartments in York. the discount was 15% and to secure one, one had to pay £1200. the other three guys paid . the spokes man encouraged me to pay sayieng it was aopportuanity of alife time i told him i wanted to think about it , but he coaxed me and eventually i took out my debit card and handed it to him after telling me that i can get my money back if i,m not happy with anything. i was given aform to sigh, i read the form and it said that the money i had infact paid was for atwo days course where they will reveal the secreats of becoming aproperty millionare in one year.
i then realised i had made the biggest mistake of my life. i demanded my mney back, the guy said the only way to get my mnoney back was to sigh the form which i did. since then i have written them five recorded letters requesting my money back , i have made several phone calls and each time i,m told the person responsible for sighnig my cheque is on holiday. please i,m just worning you i do not want anybody to go through this do not pay any of you hard earned cash to this company. they have many tactics of getting money from people, this is aripe off company. i later learnt the three guys who were in the room with me were employees of challener

Terrible story. Endured something similar in Teneriffe I almost had to 'fight' to decline the opportunity of a lifetime.
As someone said - a lesson learned.

This where going with your instincts and ripping up the form, punching his lights out before snatching your card back and kicking him in the face while yelling

    "where's my £1200? where's my £1200"

would have been the better course of action.

By the way, if anyone wants to know how to buy property below market value just pay me £5000 for a half hour course where I will show you how to find auction lists, put together a leafletting campaign and schmooze scum bag agents.

Act now and I will do that course for £2500 and promise to bombard you with lists of 'heavily discounted' new build flats ready for completion in 2010 in cities suffering a huge lack of supply of luxury flats such as Leeds and Sheffield.

After all, I know that anything less than £200k looks stupidly cheap to you Southerners so promise to pice every flat at £197500 (after discount).

Just please don't tell anyone that the developer has let me have them for £180,000 or is giving me an equivalent 'introducer fee.'

Sign up today and I will (for the bargain price of £1250) explain how good I am at getting the finance for you and structuring it so you don't have to use any of your own money... well most of the time anyway... for the time being...

Forget what those other losers say, join now for £500 and I will also explain how my property management company will manage your investments for you.. so long as 'market conditions' don't make it neccesary to let them out to students for £300 pm less than we had [strike]planned on[/strike] claimed when [strike]sorting things out[/strike] selling them to you.

I agree the people who fall for these things are as a daft as brushes but it does not excuse the criminal? behaviour of the scumbags who run these scams. If people are too harsh on the victims they may not speak out. There are lots of people out there who are not very knowledgeable about financial matters, in fact there are lots of people who have trouble reading and writing. The people who prey on them are scum.
  • Yes, it's easy to mock in these situations, but these people can be VERY persuasive and many people find it difficult to say no.

Sorry to hear you have been caught out. Although I wouldn't give up, I think the chances of getting any money back is very slim indeed. Put it down to expierence and move on.

I am not mocking , but anyway , as has been mentioned ,it`s a harsh lesson , but the OP is not likely to get caught out again....if they do well:confused:
