Problem with Sainsbury's

Not sure if this is the right place to come, but hopefully someone might be able to give me some insight as to how to deal with this problem.
My partner phoned Sainsbury's to transfer her savings into our joint account in time for next Tuesday when it will be transfered by CHAPS to our solicitors in time for our completion on a flat on Friday.
They reassured us that it would be in by today (Thursday) and when we phoned up they said that they had got the sort code wrong and the account code and that it was probably in the receivers suspense account and they would have to ask to collect the money back at the earliest on Tuesday. And then it would be another 2-3 days before it went into the correct account. Luckily my dad has bailed me out this time, but is there any action I can take against Sainsbury's for screwing up our purchase of a flat?

Write a letter to Sainsbury's asking why they didn't carry out your transaction as requested.
When they write back saying it was an "unfortunate error" or "oversight" or some such, then hit them with another letter asking what financial offer are they making to compensate you for their error.Imprudent granting of credit is bound to prove just as ruinous to a bank as to any other merchant.
