I doubt it, but you do get a nice feeling from knowing you haven't been paying another company too much for your power.

Always supposing uswitch was right, of course. It makes it's money from the commission it gets off the power companies when you switch, so the amount a company will give it is a major factor governing which company it recommends.

I switched tariffs but still kept with Scottish Power, and got a cheque for £15.00 a month later.

I'm in the same position. I'm currently on the 'sign online v6' tariff with npower. Both uswitch & energy helpline say that npower is cheapest. The latter website says that I could save £82 pa (12%) by moving to 'sign online v10'.

Does anyone know what is different about the version 10 apart from it supposedly being cheaper?

I just looked around the site and couldn't find any useful info about it.

They don't seem to want to tell you their prices, just "You tell me how much you send on fuel and I'll tell you how you will save by switching to us."

So I said "OK", told them I was with Ebico and spent £1 on gas and £1 on electricity per year.

If I switch to their sign online 10 electricity I will pay £1.17 per year, and that's a saving of -£0.17

If I switch to sign online 10 gas I will pay £2.46 per year and thats a saving of -£1.46
