As the title says this is a 42" TV.
It's made by Tevion which does most of the electronics available at Aldi.
I'll give a quick run down of the specs but you can see the rest of it on the link below:
- Freeview tuner
-2 HDMI sockets
-HD ready 1080i (not 1080p, i.e. full HD)
-1500:1 ratio
-Includes a wall bracket
According to the website this deal is available from Monday the 24th of March

Hi,
Any opinions on this? There are a lot of TV's around these days of this sort of specification, the true quality seems to be only apparent when you view it.
With Aldi 30 day return policy and a 3 year warranty very tempted to give it a go. Just want to replace a CRT TV and watch via Sky SD, nothing fancy like HDMI etc0 -
I saw a deal on hotdealsuk for a 42in Toshiba 1080i for sub £5000
-
I recently got the 42 inch Samsung posted on hotdeals for £595 with 5 years john lewis warranty.
Highly recommended.0 -
This is almost one for the 'gone but was it any good' board ...but my local Adli still has 1 or 2 in stock!
I bought it 3 weeks ago and I know it would be a fate worse than death to the LCD
connoisseurs but actually its a brilliant family TV for the price!!! so here are my findings.
looks - very smart with a narrow screen frame and a classy all black case, best Aldi look ever, the speakers are along the bottom and have good power even at full level its clear and undistorted (and loud!). It has SRS Trusound XT Technology.
The rather nasty Tevion badge on the front is just stuck on and peels off easily without trace and the TV then could easily pass as a Panasonic or something.
Sensitivity - Amazing on Freeview, we have a diabolical aerial and it pulled them all in as 'Good'.
Picture quality- very good, extremely bright I now have it at 30% and get good contrast there, it has a digital 3D filter that makes SD (Sky+) very pleasant even on a 42". No motion or pixelation problems either. Colour is deep and strong. The kids LazyTown is psychedelic !!
Special features- although there are other TV's around at this price they are very basic, this one has picture-in-picture. I have a mini PC in my lounge and I can split the screen and keep an eye on my TV program while clearing emails on the other half! Would also be useful for putting a security/baby camera up in one corner and still watch your program. Remarkably this TV has a USB socket and you can plug in a memory stick or external harddrive or MP3 device and look at digital photos or play MP3 tracks on the TV- or even both at the same time, have not tried anything else yet.
All in all amazing at £569 even includes a fixed wall mount which must be worth £20+ in the price.
Downsides?
A very slight power supply whistle when the signal is blank, disappears when any signal is selected. When it detects a 4:3 program it switches to a normal view but I prefer it stretched to use all the screen so I have to keep selecting it to Full mode.
Couldn't find a remote code for it in Sky+ or any other universal remote I have. Solution!!! - Aldi have some nice learning/universal remotes in store currently (about£8) so I set one of those to operate Sky+ (code 0555) and then learnt on top of it the volume & on/off for the TV from the original remote. Job done.
I know its not 'full' HD and all that but it will be years before I will need worry about that- HD ready is fine for my budget. There are some cheap Full HD TV's around now but like digital cameras, more pixels are not always good pixels. I think this TV has a really decent quality panel in it.
Apparently Tevion's 3 warranty can be a bit hit and miss in customer service but end of the day 3 years is 3 years.
Final verdict - Chuffed!

Aldi have these TVs in again on 1st June, I think they have the same features as the previous ones but different design, perhaps someone can confirm.

I have to admit I'm not too clued up on these but am after one just as a family tv that I can also link to my pc this looks like it will do the job for me.0 -
I am surprised its come in at £569 again as its similar but has less features than the last one, actually my local Aldi still has some of the previous one (that started this thread) in stock! so I would buy that one instead!
Actual picture specifications are exactly the same, but the previous one had Picture in Picture, a USB port etc. I also thing the previous one looked a more upmarket casing. New one still includes free wall bracket though. A bit rich to claim 'its our biggest and best yet' hmm apart from the one a few weeks ago that is!
If the picture is as good, you won't be dissapointed I don't think, mine is very bright and crisp and most the huge contrast ratio figures around now are not real, just a dynamic number fiddle. A real 1500:1 is not amazing but its good.0 -
Oh yes.. forgot. I use mine on a PC too, set the refresh rate on your PC Graphics to 60hz BEFORE removing the monitor and trying it on the TV. The TV won't handle the higher default rates and its very hard to change it without a picture!!!, so then you have to get the monitor back again. As I discovered - doh!0

this tv sounds like a good deal, but i thought general concensus was that anything over 40" you should be looking at plasma rather than lcd or am i wrong on that.Take every day as it comes!!0

I have noticed this myself and find it strange that they would sell one with less features for the same price and claim it is the 'best ever'. Thanks for your info on the product.0
