Temple bar is an obvious choice.. plenty of decent bars around there.
If you're there for sunday night as well you could try the Viper Room.. (I think thats what its called) .. its about the only decent bar open late on a sunday night, thus v busy!Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication - Leonardo Da Vinci0 -
Copper Faced Jacks (Harcourt St) was an excellent spot a couple of years ago.
Big disco sorta place. Lot of people from outside Dublin go there. If there's a match on, it'll be stuffed to the rafters in the evening.
Portabello, decent bar, lots of southern hemispherers.
South Redmond St., by the canal.
One more I can't remember the name of.
North side of the O'Connell St bridge. 100 yards up on the left hand side. By the river.
I think it's a hotel as well. huge bar upstair, huge disco downstairs.
All these recommendations are a couple of years old. Since the price of drink went through the roof, I've had to avoid it.0 -
The All-Ireland football semifinals are on next weekend 28th aug., so good luck if you are trying to get a decent hotel. If you get a ticket for the match happy days cause you'll love it.It's a great day for singing a song / It's a great day for moving along / It's a great day for morning to night / It's a great day for everybody's plight.
Your father pedals car telephones at a 300 percent markup. Your mother works on heavy commission at a camera store. Graduated to it from espresso machines. Hah!0 -

Or "Slapper face jacks" as it's affectionately known.
I can highly recommend Flannery's on Camden Street, and if you are a big music fan then Whelans across the road is always worth a visit. Best visited after nine as it's fairly slow in the early evenings, but there's usually a band or singer on as well.
There's a cracking pub on Baggott Street, just round from Stephen's Green that I can't remember the name of but it has live trad sessions every night and is always good. It's on the right hand side as you walk down.
It's a couple of years since I lived in Dublin now, so there's a good chance all this has changed, although I do always visit Camden Street when I go back so I can vouch for Whelans and Flannery's. I personally always avoid Temple Bar because it's full of tourists and stag nights, but of course that might well be right up your street!0
