Telogram Limited

Hi, I can see threads have been posted re this company before but having read the replies I'm really worried and hoping for some advice please:
We are about to move house in 2 weeks time, my friend sent me a text this morning which said our new neighbours had received a call from "the telegrams office" asking us to call them on 01252 576376 and quote ref no "xxxxx" as they had a message for us.

Now I know it was stupidly gullible of me but I did call the number and gave the reference number along with our names and address. They said they couldn't find the message and the ref was wrong so I needed to check and get back to them.

Now I am wondering and panicking what kind of scam this is and what I can do to make sure we don't become the victims of fraud. My husband and I have no debts at all so it can't be that people are chasing us for old debts.

Can anyone give me any advice as to what they are trying to do and what I can do next?

TIA
H

  • Thanks for your quick reply but is there anything they can do now they have our details that I should know about? Or is there anything I can do to prevent our details being used by them?

no they can do nothing , it is up to them to prove you owe money not for you to prove you dont .

Thats ok its a company called capquest and they are fishing , this letter is a trap and is actually fraud. they do not tell you what they want you to call about and use the fact that telogram to make people ring then they have your full name and contact details and you have just proved to them where you live which means they can then start sending you proper letters.
I recieved this over two years ago before i found this site and then the letters were coming in every day from capquest i sought proffesional advice who stopped them sending letters straight away and got the debt sold back to the company it was originally with so that they had to stop pestering me .

  •
I too have just received a letter to confirm I am the person who lived at an address 7 years ago. Should I contact them or not, was worried that I should but am unsure after reading these posts. Has anyone ignored them and its just dropped. I am not aware I have any debts but I don't want anyone turning up on the doorstep either.
