Hello,
Having hidden away on a fixed rate interest only for the past few years I have avoided interest rate rises and all the stuff which goes with it, however, now I'm worried.
Our mortgage is a self cert and we paid a fair deposit, now, it wasn't self cert for any dodgy reasons but due to the nature of my work it was the easiest way to go.How hard is it going to be for me to get another one in the current market? Our financial status is far better than it was and we don't owe anyone a penny apart from the mortgage lender, however, I did get ccj'd four years ago.
Our fixed period ends in January,
Let me know what you guys reckon.

9 months away is long time for the interest rates to jump around, I'd get worried 4-5 months beforehand if I were you.0

Overpay as much as you can until then - put yourself in the strongest position possible for a remortgage.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

Thanks for the advice so far ,the above is probably quite right.
My concern is that come the time I may not get the mortgage, and be lumbered with the high repayments.
I suppose I could sell up and rent but that kind of seems a bit daft, I had been considering moving and porting this mortgage but god knows how difficult that will be.
