Free mortgage advice in Edinburgh

Hey all,
I'm coming to the end of my fixed term mortgage with Northern Rock.
I'm trying to cut corners with respect to remortgaging my flat, and one of these could be to go with a free mortgage advisor, as opposed to going with our current IFA and being charged £150 or so.
Does anyone out there know of a free mortgage broker for low income folk within Edinburgh?
Thanks
Peter.

Plenty of fee free advisers out there
Can you ask friends or family for a recommendation - normally the best port of call?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi there,
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I am not of these shores, so if anyone can recommend a fee free service provider in Edinburgh that'd be great.

I'm based through in Glasgow so while I know a few advisors in Edinburgh I'm not sure if they charge fees.
On the other hand if you are willing to chat things through over the phone then you could deal with a telephone based broker who will do things on a fee free basis. There are any number out there, including some very large national firms such as at least one mentioned by Martin in his guide.0 -
We have used the advisor at the ESPC *on a couple of occasions over several years, but have not seen him for about 3 years. It was very easy, just phone up for an appointment, and we were very happy with the quality of the advice under various different circumstances.
Hope this helps
