Regarding the Car, I dont drive so that petrol is only for a trip to my mums and back twice to drop/pick up toddler to stay overnight. And weekends whilst hubby is about, although been doing so much overtime its normally only a Sunday, Tesco trip etc.
I walk everywhere town is only 15 min walk, where there is a Sainsburys and for emergency quick shop (-5mins) I have Somefield, boots, 2 ExpressTesco and A Co-op. Playgroup is -5mins and my nan, park and library are 10 mins. Buses I dont bother as I have a Phil & Teds, the buses are so old its impossible to get on. If I occasilonay want to go to a different town or local shopping mall, train is £5 return probaby do this less than once a month plus I'm sure that is cheaper than the petrol and parking it would cost me.
The only long distance thing we do is going to Inlaws 150 miles away, normally do that trip at least 4 times a year and it would be a nightmare with 2 kids! Train=EXPENSIVE, Coach=Cramped
All your comments are interesting though. Thanks so far.0

You can get this right down, visit the old style board for tips. Im currently managing fine on £200 pm for 2 adults and 3 children. Maybe you can do a storecupboard challenge and live from what you have for a few weeks? How about joining the grocery challenge? What about buying the next brand down? If you currently buy heinz, try tesco, if you currently buy tesco own, try value, some things will be ok, some wont, its trial and error. How about joining the ebay challenge, make some money and pay some debts off?
Just a question, are your 3 in nappies? if so I would love to hear what you buy/cook for a week. (what are the old style boards?)
The food budget I have allowed a little bit extra as we will have new born in nappies!!!! as well as toddler, so I'm thinking nappies wise I could be spending £10 some weeks, Tesco own BTW.
We haven't been buying sauces, cleaning products, toiletries or staples like pasta/rice/noodles etc as we have loads.
We buy own brand cereal, squash, tins(beans/spaghetti),washing powder, loo rolls, toothbrushes, pasta, rice
We buy value crisps, tinned toms, fakepenguins for hubbys lunches
Apart from washing up liquid, fruitbars/ricecakes for toddler maybe other bits and pieces which are brand0

have you signed up to the boots, tescos etc and other baby clubs?
also sign up to the nappies websites eg. huggies etc - all give you special deals / money off coupons etc.
look out on these forums for folks posting re. cheap nappy deals etc eg. sainsburys had all their baby stuff for half-price a couple of months ago - do a search for nappies on here!0
