Wifes has concerns over OR interview

My wife who must go BR with me has long term medical issues including Bi-Polar disorder, agoraphobia and others! She finds it difficult to speak to people she does not know and under pressure cannot speak at all. She is making herself ill at the thought of the OR telephone call if we get to that stage. Are they Ogres? Or are they reasonably understanding?

Thanks
In the beginning, there was nothing.
The Lord said "Let there be light".
There was still nothing, but you could see it.

I can honestly say my OR was a wonderful lady. She was reallly nice and we had a laugh and joke together and I was instantly put at ease with her. I think the vast majority of OR's are lovely reading the stories on here.

Good Luck to you both on your interviews

  • Hello Bald Runner,
Its just a suggestion for you to consider which could help. If you can, include a fairly detailed account of you wifes situation (financial and medical) with your forms. Then request that you have your interviews together. Our OR was extremely nice and we also found that as I went first my interview was more indepth than my OHs, I reaslise that we had different circumstances but I suppose my point is that it seems that most ORs are pretty human and if you prepare them with as much info as poss prior to your interview this should hopefully reduce the time spent speaking with them.

Also encourage your wife to read this forum, it certainly re-assured me that there didn't seem to be any ogres!

    Good Luck
    Kind regards

My OH has no self confidence and suffers depression and anxiety and was also dreading his OR interview but i made sure the forms were filled in as fully as possible and staed his medical conditions. When we got the telephone interview date through i sat down with him and we both went through the forms thoroughly beforehand and i said i would be right next to him when the OR called. I said anything he didn't know the answer to be honest and say so and say my wife is right next to me can i consult her.

He was really anxious beforehand but sat with our copies of the forms in front of him and everything was fine, he answered as much as he could, consulted me on one occasion. The OR could tell he was anxious and said we had put a lot of detail down on the form which was helpful. He admitted afterwards it wasn't a pleasant ordeal but it was ALOT BETTER than he had been expecting.
