lost £1000 trying to buy first house - help!!

I hope you can help.

[SIZE=+0]I was going to get my first mortgage last year. i went with a company called Countrywide mortgages services who sorted me a 100% mortgage out with someone. . They sent me all the forms to fill in which i did.
They then did a survey on a property that i had put on offer in on, which i had to paid for.

Then after paying for the survery they advised countrywide they would not lend 100% on concrete built houses (this of which i was not advised about) only 70%. I then put another offer in on a property and this was accepted but again i was advised they would only lend 90% on an ex council house. So after paying for these services that were useless to me as i needed 100% i went through another company to get my mortgage.

However they needed a letter from the first mortgage company to advise that the mortgage offer from them was not going through anymore and that it had only got as far as the survery stage. Unfortunately they would not do this for me for some unknown reason and this was going on for weeks untill i finally lost the house and having paid a further £260 out for my new mortgage services and £415 to my solicitor. I did write to the Financial Ombudsman who wrote back advising they would look into it but that was about 6 months ago and i dont know what else to do. I am now renting as i darent start a new mortgage application after losing £1000.00.

What would you suggest i do.

I know it's a bit late now, but in future use an IFA to sort out mortgages for you rather than Countrywide, plus look at the terms and conditions very closely. If Countrywide knew you needed a 100% mortgage they should have only contacted lenders who offered this, or at the very least made you aware of exclusions that were part of the deals they recommended.

Contact the ombudsman and ask for an update on progress.
