Wasn't sure where to post this so please move if necessary.
On Saturday 29th March 2008, people all over the world will be switching off the lights for one hour - Earth Hour. A great way to save some money as well as giving the planet a bit of a rest.
http://www.earthhour.org/
It started off in Australia last year;
"Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.
This simple act has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world. As a result, at 8pm March 29, 2008 millions of people in some of the world’s major capital cities, including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tel Aviv will unite and switch off for Earth Hour."
There's a Facebook group of the same name too, to help with publicity.
I wonder if MSE is big enough to turn the lights off in the UK? :rotfl:

I think the idea is to turn the lights off at a time when we'd normally have them on. It caught on in a big way in Sidney - I think they turned the lights off in the Opera House and around the harbour, quite a dramatic energy saving as well as being quite startling for a place to be so dark when it's usually so light.:)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Would you do it at 8pm in each time zone? Because 8pm in Sydney is about 9am here...
