50th Birthday Gift Ideas

Options
Need some help guys if possible.

Basically its my Mum's 50th Birthday in a couple of weeks and need some gift ideas. So far presents that I know people have got her include Afternoon Tea, a Theatre trip, Pampering vouchers.

So looking for that 'premium' present, something she'll really love and enjoy, price range of £50-£250.

Any ideas at all will help, perhaps anything you can remember that you have bought as a 50th birthday present for a lady.

Cheers for now

If you do a search on the 'Christmas and Special Occasions' board, you'll probably find lots of wonderful ideas. These came up when I searched for '50th':

Not sure if its the sort of thing you have in mind but for my brothers 40th I got him 40 presents to remind him of his childhood (he is 11 years older than me so Mum helped, couldnt remember much!) and wrapped them all individually with a seperate label on with a hint or joke about what it was. It sounds really expensive but it depends what you can buy, I was on a budget so some of mine was sweets he used to like. It was a real conversation piece and people keep taking about it now which is 6 months later. Because its something really thoughtful too it really stands out.

I hope she likes whatever you decide on.

I know you've already mentioned pampering vouchers, but what about this Spa Break?

I think any woman would love it. And just look at the hotel, it's lovely.

Eurostar day trip to paris for lunch - I really want this for my next birthday so maybe your mum would to.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.

I took my husband on a day trip on the Orient Express - we had the 5 course champagne lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was cheaper as I had cashed in Tesco vouchers for Airmiles and used those. Would recommend to anyone.

    These are departing from Carlisle

Similar to Bubbles idea, we did the same for our parents 50th anniversary - 50 small pressies, one for each year. Again, the cost was up to you with some being very cheap and none being very expensive. We also centered around the 1st anniv=paper, 25th=silver etc (with any non-specific years having simply the theme 'gold') so we had to fit even more carefully but you could do what you want. We had cheapie ideas like a pearl lightbulb for the pearl anniversary, and dearer ones like 2 crystal wineglasses for crystal.
Realise this won't apply for a birthday but maybe some others may tie in. I got the paper one to buy so I phoned the local paper of the town they used to live in and managed to get a reprint of the newspaper showing their wedding photo and announcement. It proved quite a talking point as they and others of their generation sat and went 'Oh I remember that shop' and 'Gosh, do you remember him/her....' and generally set off down memory lane. That paper was read from cover to cover by at least 10 people!
Other idea is do a 'This-Is Your Life' type book with photos from birth onwards and a running commentary typed alongside (as sweet or cheeky as you wish). Try to contact old friends and ask them to contribute old photos etc.
Also had a miniature of whisky each from the year they married, a favourite song they danced to whilst dating etc etc.

Hope yours works as well as our one did - it was taked about for ages.
    Regards
    Katyk
