Loan with settled bad credit...
I recently took out a loan with my bank - Barclays, to pay off an old debtor and get rid of my overdraft. I was preapproved by Barclays for their loan, so there was no problem getting it - but it's at ... wait for it... 20% APR.
I have very bad credit, but have been working on it and have settled both the bad items - a CCJ and a default, both 4 years ago, with paperwork showing these are settled, but I was recently turned down just for opening a bank account, so presumably my credit score is still bad (I know the CCJ stays on for a while).
So - are there any loan providers who I may be able to get a lower APR from - taking into account that if they just go by my credit report I won't get it, but have the settlement paperwork and already in a loan from my bank?
(P.S. Overdraft interest rate is ~10% from Barclays for me, but from the point of view of money management I don't want to use it, otherwise I'll never get rid of it)
Cheers!
