Cancelling Stakeholder pension

Hi
I've moved to France and got £2000 in a stakeholder pension with NFU - they tell me I cant surrender/cancel my policy until I'm 55 even though I no longer live in the country. Is that right? If so, is there any way of transferring it to France?
Thanks

They are right. If you transferred it to France it would have to go into a qualified (QROPS) scheme. These are listed on the Revenue site.
