Tesco have definitely stopped applying the multibuy to reduced items. There are notices telling you that and I have tried it.

The problem with this policy though is that sometimes the reductions are not enough to bring you under the multibuy price. An example of this (and this is the most recent, but by no means the only time) is last week. They have Finest sausages on offer at two packs for £3. They are normally £1.69 - £1.99. They had a set reduced from £1.99 to £1.69 and another set from £1.69 to £1.39. That comes to more than buying two fresh packs on the multibuy. Even if they had each been £1.39, I would prefer to pay the extra 22p and buy fresher packs.

The till should still honour the original multibuy. For example, your sausages that were reduced, 1.69 + 1.39 = 3.08. The till should take 8p off as a multibuy. So effectively your getting two short life packets for £3, the same as if you bought 2 fresh packets! Confused?

i went into my local sainsburys one evening last year and bought only a few things, one of the items being a bogof 4pk yoghurt reduced to 5p, so bought 2 when i came out of the store i noticed that i had gained £1.94 by buying the 2.......so being cheeky...........
i returned to the store armed with a trolly and cleared the fridge out of the bogof 5p bargains, and using my mobile phone calculator worked out how much to spend instore (as the wont give you a refund), whilst going round store i picked up other bogofs tomatoes, bread and suddenly had £147.oo to spend!! yippee i filled up my trolly with luxury's and booze that u dont normally buy, and went to the till to pay, i owed them £4.97!!! yipee doo i thought then the manager came storming over to me, " i see you like a bargain" he said, i thought i was going to get barred, but he asked me to leave my trolly at the checkout and follow him......he took me to the delicatessan counter and asked me to take the contents for £2.50 as they were having new chillers being installed that night! obviously i obliged, and even got a nice man to take the shopping to the car for me as i couldnt manage the 2 trollys.

i managed to distribute the bogofs and some of the deli to neighbours, and friends, froze some, and i dumped the rest that i couldn't use

  • Hi this is my first post. I thought you may be interested to hear about the bargain I got yesterday. My local Tesco had reduced some of their Finest range ready meals. I bought two packs - one for 80p and the other for 70p. (It was around 6pm). The current offer on the Finest range is by two and get £1 off. I was under the impression that this didn't apply to reduced items however when I checked my receipt I found that £1 had been deducted. So I got 2 serves 2 meals for 50p!
