Council Tax Refund - Statutory Interest

Options
Hi, hopefully someone can help me with this one.

I have finally won my battle with Leeds city council who charged me full council tax even though my son is based abroad in the forces and has been for three years. After a complicated battle they have agreed that they are wrong and it is entirely their error.

I am due a refund of three years 25% sole occupancy discount. As the council have admitted their error. Should I expect them to pay me statutory interest on the monies that have been overpaid ???

Thanks

We dont pay interest or charge it on people who "forgot" to tell us when someone else moved in last year

there is no statutory requirement to pay interest on a back-dated discount award as there isn't for removing a discount. like elmer says it's more likely that we remove discounts retrospectively rather than award them.
it's not the council's fault your band is wrong, blame the Valuation Office !!!!!
