McDonalds - 10 Minute Rule???

I read on one of the threads a while back, that if Mcdonalds take too long to serve you, ( think it was 10 minites from taking your money) you were entitled to your money back. We all had mcd's for lunch today and waited 15 for order. I asked one of the staff members and she knew nothing of the rule. I asked her to speak to the manager. She came back with message he had never heard of it either , but what had we bought? When I told her she said, no no one has heard. I spoke to the manager and asked him to phone head office. He came back with - yes there is a time guidance but it is at the stores own discretion - so no refund due.

How can they operate a rule at their discretion when they nothing about it!!!!!!
Any ideas anyone?

Is McDonalds operated as a franchise? If so it would be quite feasible to have things operating at the manager's discretion. I know when they have special offers on, these are not always available at all stores & are generally advertised as being at participating branches only, so obviously some branches are able to choose to opt out.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • I wish id known that mcdonalds owe me like 100 meals!
I once wrote to their head office and complained that the restaurant was really cold and got a free meal, give it a go what have you got to loose!

i wrote months ago to complain about bad food, got a reply saying they would look into it - nothing since - will write back now ...........
  • They'll most probably send a voucher which you can use but can't get change from, i.e. you'll have to spend more than the voucher value to benefit from it.

This company deserves to die in my opinion. I've complained about the restaurant in Malvern which serves water for coffee and cold burgers and fries, but was told that it was a franchise and the comments had been passed on. No compensation, apology... nothing! :( They don't seem to care that although these franchises are private businesses, they are spoiling the name of the whole corporation.

Yes they are franchised, and it is up to the discretion of the owner of the franchise. A friend of mine has 3 franchises, I asked him about this last night and he said although they have to work within a set no of rules this isnt one of them. But did say, anyone who gets in touch withMc head office generally gets vouchures, so contact them!

Why not just eat somewhere where they serve healthier, tastier food, and have a less questionable envirinmental policy?

You can contact McDonalds about a particular 'restaurant' visit online here:

    Good luck.

McDonalds has always equalled bad food.

Saying they would look into it.....I can't see them scrapping most of their menu.

Had a nightmare at a local macdonals recently. The whole `restaurant` was filthy, bins over filled, food on the floor, then they mucked up our order... took 10 minutes to get my daughters plain cheeseburger, over charged us and then there was a full blown argument going on between a member of staff and a customer as the girl would not over ride the till when the guy changed his mind about something, when a manager was called over, she said `i`m not doing it or you`ll fire me`. !!!! No idea what was going on there !

So i complained, and the manager just said `sorry`.

Then 5 minutes later, he came to our table and apologised again, saying he could have handled my complaint better and offered us free desserts.

    mmmmm, thanks !
