    Hi Andy,

There's been endless debate about this subject, and it's probably a case of what you feel comfortable with.

If it's not detailed enough, the O.R will ask more in depth question, but that depends on the individual O.R.

Probably the best approach is working along the lines of a 3 year time scale, and explaining how your personal and work circumstances affected the amount of debt you were accruing during that period.

I did a detailed account but that just prompted even more in depth questions; I'd have been much better just doing a brief summary.

  • Mine started off as a 5 year history but then ended up as a 12 month history after advice and comments on here about not providing too much info for the OR to dig into but then in my OR interview he went back 5 years anyway, so i may as well of left it as the 5 years history i started with. So pretty much up to you and how honest you want to be.
Life is like a game of Snakes & Ladders, i almost made it to the top but now i'm at the bottom again and its a very long ladder to the top. I had it all and now its gone
Well my 6 years are now up, now to start to rebuild my life again

Mine was a concise summary. I then typed out a 2 x A4 page explaination for the interview for when they wanted more detail.
  • bore em to death mate, every little detail of your life history, they may not even need to ring you for the OR interview, or may dread losing 5 hours doing it.....lol

    Hi,
I went around 5 years back but was quite vague about the timescales- only thing I was clear on is when I actually found myself unable to pay debts- in Nov last year. Just gave a general over view of how debt had built up- I also put in a bit about the circumstances of why.
I tried to be quite neutral- didnt want to be too detailed but to give enough info to hopefully satisfy the OR.
I put in some personal stuff, but tried to keep it short and in the background.
Dont know how it will go down as not had OR interview yet. I sort of worked to being honest and upfront, but not giving too much info- working on the theory that the OR has enough info to keep them satisfied, but not enough to make them want to dig- suppose it depends on your OR. I would have thought the bulk of OR's are so busy at the moment, unless something REALLY stands out- they will probably be ok.
