advice needed plz

A few years ago i got into a little bit of a mess with finances when my ex ex moved out after we had just bought a house and a new car ( car was in my name). I did 2 jobs ( full and part time ) and had a child to look after but i did it. I've got a good credit rating now and turned things around with the help of my partner of 5 1/2 yrs.

11 years on and i cant believe its happened all over again. I'm still in the same house and have just split up with my partner and have fallen for it all again. My ex couldnt get finance as he was 1) self employed and 2) his ex ran up a catologue debt up in his name after he left.

So i'm now left with a bigger mortgage because we remortgaged to do house improvements, a loan which we got a new car , holiday etc , 2 credit cards which we both spent on but is in my name................

I'm tired of all the !!!! what goes around time and time again.
I dont earn a great deal but i can do overtime but i work shifts so it can get tiring if dont have a break from the place.

I'll list my outgoings as best as i can then i'm heading to a friends where we are throwing her boyfriend out for the night and diss men

Earnings - £950
Mortgage - £270
Loan - £191
Credit cards Minimum - £100 combined
Council tax - £60
Sofa - £70
Gas/ Electric - £62
Mobile phone - £25
Water - £15
Virgin media - £30
Insurance (car ) - £32
Insurance (house) - £28
Insurance (life ) - £10
Insurance ( mortgage ) £12
Tv license - £12
Insurance for boiler - £10

So not including fuel for car , food, anything else i'm pretty stuffed.
I can get an extention on my loan which has been running for 2 years, which has 2 years left to run. I can pay off cc's, sofa, pay car insurance for the year which is ready for renewal in May. I'm so gutted by it all. I'm ready to sell up and go work in a cafe somewhere hot.
On top of all this i can feel my panic attacks coming back to haunt me which i had 11 years ago, though they are not bad enough to see anyone or start taking tablets. I just worked through it last time and walked my poor dog all around the city lol.

Right time to go get my voodoo doll's out and stick pins into where it hurts. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Btw i am a regular member of this site and have been using it for months, but i have changed my name due to the fact i have told lots of people i work with about this site and they all know my name. The last thing i want is this to go around work............... and it will like wild fire

    What about doing a DMP?

Small I know, but you can probably knock a couple of quid for cheaper house insurance, and possibly switch providers for Gas/Elec at most here...

In this situation I usually think it's time to find other ways of making money.... looks like for the time being overtime is the first port of call, as well as seeing if there anything you can sell on eBay.

What is your credit card debts and APR's? This could help you target your debt better.

You have a loan - are you paying PPI for this? Is it secured or unsecured?
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Do you think you'll be able to get a 0% CC?

You probably know about most of this, but just wanting to make sure.
    Reclaiming bank charges too?

  • thanks for all the replys.

    cc's are already on 0%
Already claimed cc charges back thanks to this website.
Already get cashback on all my insurance i buy through Quidco.
Getting money of ex............???? No. Because i used money on home improvements he says i got the house which is in my name anyway..... which i had before he turned up anyway lol.
I'm not paying ppi on loans or credit cards (never understood why i would need them anyway).
I need a car to get to work. Public transport doesnt run where i work and i cant walk as the only way to get there is wlaking down by the canal. And when i start work at 6am it would mean leaving at 5am, which in the car is 4 mins.... walking means crossing dual carriage way, down a very dodgy footpath to the canal.
Council tax is over 10 months so i suppose i could get that over 12 instead.

And i'm not entitled to tax credits of any type.

Lets just hope he comes to his senses and comes back.
  • Are you claiming the single person ctax reduction?
