Newman DCA

Dear all - Does anyone have any experience of Newman DCA recently? Once a debt with Amex has been passed to them, is there any way of paying it back to Amex rather than to Newman?
Does or Can Newman offer a repayment plan, as they don't seem to like that suggestion initially on the phone.
Any information would be gratefully received.
Thanks.
Adrian

Depends whether they have bought the debt from Amex or are just acting for them? Does the letter say? Does anything mention a "Notice of Assignment"?
If they have bought (been 'assigned') the debt, then you no longer owe Amex.Does or Can Newman offer a repayment plan, as they don't seem to like that suggestion initially on the phone.
Yes.
A lot of DCAs will refuse a repayment plan on the first contact. It's just a tactic to put pressure on you. Later on if you are persistent they will accept instalments. Stick to offering what you can genuinely afford, and don't budge.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
