New kitchen recommendations needed

My kitchen and everything in it is falling apart. It's gone beyond the stage of just being able to fit new doors. Even the oven gave up the ghost 12 months ago. But I am thinking of selling the house in the next 12 months, so is a new kitchen a wise expense? The thing is, it's combined with the lounge so a new kitchen would make a big impact.
I have a tame plumber who has recommended the Magnet Trade counter. Apparently they do virtually the same kitchens as the retail side but a lot cheaper. And they will still come out and plan it. Then you get who you like to fit it. Anyone else done this or do you know any good cheap retailers?
Cheers

We asked Magnet trade for a quote, gave them a plan of the kitchen (from Wickes) and they didn't even bother to get back to us. I think builders etc recommend them because they come ready-built so are a lot less hassle to install. Our builder was also keen. We've gone to Ikea in the end, but also looked at Wickes which seemed quite good (although flatpacks, like Ikea, too). Both are cheaper options than Magnet trade, as are Howdens. If you're thinking of selling in the next year, I wouldnt splash out on Magnet -- I'd go for a cheaper option. If you're planning on staying - different.0

Howdens used to own MFI.
I have fitted two howdens kitchens so far and dont think i would go anywhere else.
Give your local howdens a call and they will even come round and design it for free.
Its upto the individual manager as to whether you will get proper trade discount but it is likely plus you can still haggle even further.0 -
I have heard good things about Howdens too, but haven't used them myself.
Magnet trade is definitely not the same quality as Magnet retail!
If I was looking to move in the next year, I would go for Howdens, or at a push, Magnet trade. I would only pay for Magnet retail if I was looking for a long term investment.Gone ... or have I?0
