Sorry, didn't mean to pry. It just caught my attention that's all. And for the record Mormon is a different form of christianity. I don't pretend to understand it all, but am learning from my nearly step-daughter.
About the savings re loan / credit card. Keep the savings, as otherwise you'll lose the interest that you make..Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

The OP is a victim of "stealth wealth".
We're told we've never been richer, but that's a load of bull.
Stealth taxes have gone up, sin taxes have gone up, petrol is soaring, utilities are rising, council tax, yep that's up too.
Meanwhile wage rises are very low.
Remember, the inflation rate has been fiddled to remove all the important things - and is kept artificially low to trick the public into thinking they're rich.
It's not a political point - all parties do it. The general public are just too financially inept to realise what's going on.
And yes, single people are bearing the brunt of it all. That's because the govt desperately needs you to drop sprogs to pay for our pensions!0 -
I think the most important point is that she lives in London... the cost of living in london is a lot, lot higher than elsewhere.
Hence £1250 is equivalent to £800 elsewhere, so pretty low wages, hence all of the financial difficulties.0 -

I know you said not to mention the £70.00 payment for youre religion, but..........
I don't understand why a particular percentage, is recommended, surely any payment should be gratefully received, income permitting.
Is there no way that this could be reduced so that in the short term you give yourself a little bit of breathing space and a chance to get some other debts paid off, then restart with the payments when you are more financially comfortable to do so.
Sorry - I don't want to offend anyone, but i just don't understand the reason for the percentage/recommended amount?I say what I like, I like what I say!0 -
So true!!!!
ACtually, I live in Henley-on-THames, not London but the same thing applies i think.
I AM lucky with my house though - my parents bought in with me six years ago and my mortgage is only for £52,000. I couldn't afford to buy on my own, and renting was costing over £500 for a shoebox!!
Yeah - if I was married and there were two wages I would be fine!!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Hi,
Until a couple of months ago I was exactly where you are, the only difference is that I know have my man living with me.
I used to hate it, living in kent, rented flat, no money at all after I got paid. And I know some people might think the money we get paid down here is a lot but it's all relative.
A couple of things you could try that I did:-
Change your mobile to someone like three. I get 500 minutes a month and it meant I could get rid of my home phone line. So for £30 all in I've got my phone and all the calls.
I e-bayed a lot of stuff when I was skint and made good money doing it. You can get really creative after a while. An old make up bag with bits and bobs I never use sold for £7, do a few of those and you could be making what I was, £25 a week!
Try being really frugal with cooking. I eventually cut back to no convenience meals, fresh everything and I could cook up a mean Bolognaise for a couple of quid and freeze a load an put it in the freezer.
If I needed wine I would go to Threshers. 3 for the price of 2 goes a long way when you're living alone and don't drink too much, and it's always a nice to know it's cheaper when you go to a mates house for a night in with a bottle of wine in your arms!
It is tough but get into this site for a while and you get really into it. It's second nature for me now, I used to buy clothes like they were going out of fashion when I was at home, then having reigned in my spending for a few months I really don't feel the need to now.0
