Who is paying my N/I contributions

I was sorting some paperwork this morning and reread the letter re:my new tax code for 2008/9 on the back it states that Nhs Pensions Paymaster should not take off any N/I contributions from the date of my 60th birthday and asking me to check when the time comes.. which will be in July...
Now I am confused as my understanding was the my N/I conts were being credited to me as I am on IB which will stop at my 60th...
Can anyone just explain why I need to check that no N/I conts are being made when I am not paying them anyway...
I bet the answer is really simple..
I have read through many posts to find the answer but no luck...

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
