Do you have a recovery policy that covers you at home?
If so, then call them out.
  • Are you saying the wheel bolts are too tight to unscrew?

Presumably you have a wheel brace for them, and not enough leverage. Either put your foot on one end and push/kick down hard, or get a short length of scaffolding tube and put that over the brace - that will give you much more leverage.

Do not attempt to pull upwards - you'll do your back in.

Do not attempt to unscrew the bolts with the car jacked up. Loosen them with the car on the ground, once they are loose (but still screwed in!!!), then jack the car up.

Chances are whoever fitted the wheels last overtightened them - it happens often.

If it doesn't have any already apply a little copper grease to the threads of the bolts once they're off and this should help prevent this happening again.

Daft as it sounds...............Are you using the right wheel nut? Some cars have a self locking wheel nut and nowt but drilling the nuts outs will move them if you dont use the right equipment.

Im going to try this (the extension to brace) when OH gets in.
If it doesnt work would it be safe to inflate the tyre and drive it to a kwik fit or somewhere?

Depends on how quickly the tyre loses pressure. You could buy a can of that holts stuff that's supposed to inflate and seal punctures and then drive to wherever.

If you are still struggling a piece of pipe on the end of the brace (more leverage) will help.
