To start with I thought there's no one single item saves me money, then i realised this site keeps me focused and that has been worth more than I can say so I would have to agree about computers. I do love having a well equipped sewing area so that I can do costumes for the girls, mend things, make curtains, cushions etc. It probably wasn't very frugal at the time but all my past splurges on fabrics now mean that I have loads of notions etc ready to hand

same for having just about all the kitchen equipement I can think of needing (now that I have got my breadmaker).. I couldn't possibly live as cheaply if I couldn't cook just about any meal from scratch using fresh ingredients
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

One thing that saved us money when our boys were small was the hair clipper set. I even used to do DHs hair with it - mind you, he would look like a convict if I did it now - it's ok for younger folk I think!
Now its only ds2 (14) who gets the home hair cuts, ds1 opted out as soon as he started work & wanted a more fashionable hairstyle!
We are on our 2nd set of clippers (in more than 10 years) and both sets must have paid for themselves over and over again in savings on haircuts.

My computer has saved me a fortune over the years - for all the reasons everyone else has mentioned plus I never book hotel rooms full price ... I've saved a fortune using laterooms.com over the years.

My breadmaker .... will never buy a shop loaf again!

My yogurt maker ... bought from a car boot sale and produces the most delicious yogurt ever

My slow cooker ... just cooked a ham shank over night and have enough meat for 3 meals

My OH ... a gem of a handy man who puts up shelves, makes me pan trivets and is just about to make me a cold frame from some salvaged timber from a skip and an old shower screen :D
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D
