Yeah, go see a broker. They tend to specialise in self certs, so might well be able to get you a better deal.
Seems self certs are very competitive these days. Hmm, wonder why? Could it be that standard mortgages aren't bringing home the bacon anymore?
Can't think why...must be something to do with having to state your income... Umm....now why should that be a problem...?
To be honest, as the brokers on here point out, if you've got accounts you can get a regular mortgage.0 -
Northern Rock do not offer true self cert mortgages - they offer fast track, so they reserve the right to request proof of income if they want.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Or it could just be that more people are self employed or working on fixed term contracts....could it not?0 -

Do you think? I'm no expert, but the brokers on here keep telling people to seek out a standard mortgage first, even if they're self employed and can PROVE THEIR INCOME.
The market's so competitive, that only those who, for some reason, don't want to reveal how much they earn, should be resorting to self certs.0 -

Could someone help me out since it is not clear how I should make an application for this mortgage. Going direct to northernrock.co.uk the self certification aspect of the application does not seem to be present and their application involves the full set of questions in regards employment as for a full status mortgage.
Charcol Online does not seem to offer this mortgage as self certification. Will I have to go through a broker to get this mortgage as self certification? If so are there any well known brokers that I could go through to make an application for this mortgage.
Any help appreciated.
I do this product as self cert, in fact it is the most popular mortgage I currently arrange.
The application must 'stack - up' properly and please do bare in mind that N Rock reserve the right to check your income even after the mortgage has legally completed.0 -
Any muppet that is tempted by "cashback" is too much of a simpleton to be given their own property.
It's like dangling a ball of wool in front of a kitten
As you say, it isn't true self-cert if they check.
Although I guess a number of self-cert lenders might have this in their small print, non?0 -
In my experience there are very few who dont reserve the right to check your accounts/income at a later date.
This mortgage lark is a minefield!!0
