£3588 Taken Out Of My Natwest Saving Account

Options
Hi there,
I am an international student. My country sent my scholarship last week and I deposited in my Natwest saving account. Today when I checked my account online I found that someone (SUNDRY DR) took £3588 from my account on 14 March 2008. I dont know this person and never transfer this money.

I called the fraud section where one lady after noting my details told me to wait for response. After 30 min one guy called and guess what he did not know exactly what happened. I tried to explain to him all situation and he ended up saying Did you transfer this amount? Is the remaining amount correct? And told me to contact my branch.

I am so worried and depressed. That was all I got for this year to spend. If anybody can help me and share his views I shall be gratefull to him. Please let me know what to do? How to talk to the bank people? Shall I get my money back...Please help me...
Thanks.

    What to do?

Go to your branch, as advised.

You need to go into your branch, or any Natwest Branch first thing in the morning.
Speaking to someone face to face is easier, and with all due respect your english doesnt look brilliant, so speaking to someone in a branch will be easier for you

Yes, good advice from #3. I wish you all the best.

Provided that you have not broken any of the bank's rules (like being careless and allowing anyone to know your password) then you will get the money back. I hope that the process will be smooth and rapid.

'SUNDRY DR' ??? This is not a person, I believe this is the bank's way of stating a withdrawal was made. Has that cheque bounced, perhaps?

  • Yes it could be that a credit paid in has bounced.

I deposited a bank draft of £3653 on 15 Feb and after 7 days I got the money in my account. Can it bounce after a month?

You initially told us that you paid in this cheque (or was it a bank draft?) last week, but now it appears it was actually paid in 4 weeks ago. As the money withdrawn from your account is less than the cheque/draft was for, it's unlikely that the withdrawal is the result of the cheque/draft being returned unpaid.

Query whether it is not exactly the same amount as the scholarship money due to currency fluctuations.

I would have thought the bank would have known straight away if the cheque / bankers draft had bounced.

I went to bank this morning and they had no clue what this transaction mean? They told me to contact the Fraud Department. I called them and gave them all information. Now I have been waiting as it takes 7-10 days (according to them).

It was a bank draft I deposited. Whoever took that money still leave around £400 in my account........?
