Slightly different in Wales. Or at least so I been told by my local Bookstart lady. The 3+ does not get a treasure box, it's only applicable in England.
But all the other stuff that OP mentioned you get, and it is well wort it. I've had some really nice stuff for my two boys.

I have problems getting my treasure chest - & I am in England.

The library says this comes from nursery/pre-school & bpth creche & pre-school know nothing about it!

  • there is a cloth bag full of goodies available at 9months, but this comes from the health visitor.

the treasure box comes from the library

Sorry to add to the confusion but our Pre-school received their delivery about 2 weeks ago. We distributed when the parents collected their children.

They were sent directly from Bookstart. We did not register for them this year (but we may have done in the past). Our setting is in Surrey.
  • To clarify things
All the packs should be stocked by your libraries - 3 packs (8 months, 18 months, and 3.5 years)

The first 2 packs are also stocked by health visitors, and the final pack is mainly distributed through preschools/nurserys.

Thus you should collect your pack from health visitor or preschools (given out once a year), but if you are unable to do this (e.g. home schooling), then collect from local library

My son's got their first pack at their hearing tests, their 2nd pack at their MMR vaccinations, a third pack at the library when we signed them up (don't join too soon after receiving a pack as the books are duplicated) and my oldest son got a 4th pack in the summer term at nursery.

I think these packs are a fantastic idea!
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
