Yorkshire BS Offset now Online

Great news - Yorkshire BS award winning offset mortgage is now available online.

Have found YBS to be good and this tracker account has worked well for me. Now delighted that I can view my account online to view direct debit payments going out etc and instruct transfers out to my bank account (previoulsy had to request a cheque by post (10 working days) - yawn). I had been requesting this facility for ages.

Now I can do this electronically its likely I'll get my salary paid into the offset account direct rather than into my current account - less hassle and better access to cash.

If you are interested in offset account check this one out. Base rate + 0.75% currently 5.25%.

Abbey also do and offset one for base plus .5% for the life of the mortgage (need 10% deposit). Not sure if it is online though....

I used to have this offset.......it it worth the 0.75% per annum over for example First Active tracker or YBS 4.5% fix? I dont believe so.

Fair dues -I am happy wth this account anfd hte way they operate it and wanted others to be aware their facilities have just been improved.

The YBS account won't suit everybody and pros and cons of offset are done to death in this forum. I have a major offset position so interest rate is not so so much of an issue. Switching to fixed products which incurs a transfer charge and then has penalties to leave are not so attractive in my view.

FYI - Once registered you then need to download a form, sign and send off for them to allow transfers out from your account. Once set up everything should be fine. At first I couldn't understand why having input the details they weren't showing up online. I just wasn't reading the site instructions properly.
