FTB Mortgage... Any advice please!

We've put an offer in on a house and today spoke to an adviser at L + C about mortgage ... (we have been there before with mortgage offers through brokers but both deals fell through) This time we had been advised to hold off on looking for mortgage until we'd had an offer accepted and today have been told to hang on until Monday/ Tuesday as a lot of lenders had suddenly withdrawn rates on Friday. Does anyone else know anything about this?
And secondly when we looked online the Natwest calculator had quite a good fixed rate deal and we bank with them so wondered whether anyone has any opinions on Natwest and whether it would still be a better idea to wait for L+C next week??
Sorry for rambling!!
