Offering Local Computer Support

I m thinking of opening a local computer support company to help with Networking and software problems as well as general advice on how to use applications
I work as a developer and dont really make enough money so this might subsidize my income. I went to university and did a computer science degree if that helps
Can anyone comment on where I should be doing my advertising to get customers?
All the people I know are pretty computer savy and would not pay for help but there must be some people who need this service?
Any ideas?

What about joining your local chamber of commerce? Once you're a member they'll distribute info on your company and you could give a talk to local businesses about networking etc. Maybe the dangers to look out for when networking. If you give an interesting talk you get a load of business owners wanting to talk to you so take some business cards.0

I've posted my thoughts in that thread - well worth a read for anyone considering doing this.Team Fishcake - Silly, strange, surreal and stupid original comedy0 -
Being one of those people who gets asked to fix other people's PCs for free, I was seriously thinking of having a go at doing it for money. After reading those posts, I've decided it's not worth the hassle. There is a really good little repair shop round the corner where I go when I'm stuck, I think I'll just point people at him instead.
Now I need to come up with "plan B"0 -
This is my experience and even for the people who might need help there are a hell of a lot of little busineses who have thought of the exact same thing. PCs have become too user friendly and easy to fix these days. If a components goes wrong you can buy in a cheap replacement. All the people I know are pretty computer savy and would not pay for help but there must be some people who need this service?
