Why is it always me!!!

My employer has messed up my wages and missed a weeks pay from my monthly wage so I went on to online banking with RBS and cancelled two of the least important DD's so I wouldn't go OD and therefore wouldn't get charged. DD's due on 16th, been online today DD's taken out and cancelled ones active again, AARRGGHH. Rang them and money due to be taken out on a Monday shows on your account on a Saturday, even though she admits they were cancelled they can't be returned til Monday as thats when they are due. So not only have I been stitched up by my employer and the bank, I have no money to get petrol to get to work tonight:mad: #
Sorry just really need to rant, probably doesn't even make sense.
Why didn't someone kick me up the backside earlier:mad:

Thats awful! My bank take them the next working day after they are due. Get your employer to sort out the wages pronto and have words with your bank, they cannot take the DD from your account early.

Morally speaking - an employer should cover any costs incurred by you (eg overdraft charges) that have been caused by their fault.

Dont know what the legal position is on that - but I do know that some employers will do so. I know that if my salary went into my bank weeks late it wouldnt matter - I would just have to make a note of what overdraft charges had been incurred because of that and give the bill to my employer to pay. I'd still be annoyed about the hassle they would have caused me to have - but I wouldnt have to bear the costs.

Worth checking with your Union whether your employer has an arrangement in place to cover costs because of their late payment of salary.

The legal position is (IIRC) that since they have breached the contract that exists between you (your employment contract) - they are liable for all ensuing costs.

But the bank has screwed up too - and should not be let off...
