Your first point of contact should be Tesco since the deal was through them. If Tesco partnered with BPF to arrange the Loan then that would be the next port of call.
I think you would be well within your rights to have the entry removed or a disclaimer added, but who would be responsible for this Tesco/BPF I couldn't begin to guess. sounds like rather a grey area.
These removals take time to be updated in the credit reports and I would give between 3-6 Months before it drops off your credit files.0 -
Hi, I've recently been refused credit for a car loan  Having checked my Experian credit report it seems there is a default account registered, this i am not desputing, however I am confused as to how long this will be held against me!! the date the account went default was 30 Dec 2006. The last payment (to settle the account was 10 Oct 2010). When will the default be erased from my record and by how much does a default account smash my score??? please help (really need a new car).0

Am i reading my Experian file correctly?
I have 3 accounts...Lloyds,Halifax and a Tesco CC.
My report shows i have 6 accounts.....so the above accounts are showing twice.
I've just been turned down for a loan from Lloyds so thought I'd check my file.0 -
Hi
I am at my wits end with Experian. I recently applied for a personal unsecured loan and have been declined by 3 companies!! I decided to check my credit history on Experian and was astounded to find that my score is only 633 in the poor category. Firstly, I have NEVER missed a payment on anything, I have no CCJ's, defaults etc. I do currently have a loan with the Ulster Bank which will be paid early next year and a payday loan that I have rolled over a couple of months but nothing has ever been missed. I have asked Experian to explain but am still waiting on an answer 11 days later. My name has only recently been added to the electoral register (my score was 583 and went up to 633 with the addition to the electoral register). I live with my wife who owned our house before I met her so to date the mortgage is only in her name so I have been classing myself as a private tenant in furnished accommodation for my loan applications. Am I doing anything wrong? I am still seeking an unsecured loan but am reluctant to put any more credit search footprints on my credit file to worsen the situation. Any advice would be great0 -
Ok, so I am struggling to understand what actually is it that lenders get from Experian that then makes them say no or offer a ridiculously unattractive rate compared to the one they advertise?
With a credit rating of so called "excellent" and no missed payments even if it's not a flat out refusal the best I can get is double the advertised rate.
My own bank, Barclays (not for much longer) after 35 years came back with 26.9% on £10k, which is double the best from the rest.
Oh and of course the more you try to shop around the worst your credit rating becomes, because in the words of experian you are "credit hungry". Er not exactly - just trying to find someone willing to honour the rates they are advertising. Every time you to apply it counts against you on the credit report.
Yep I appreciate they all have slightly different lending criteria, but it doesn't seem to make any sense to me. Anyone shed any light other than the obvious that they are all taking the michael with over exhorbitant rates.........0 -
Credit reference agency Callcredit, under its Noddle brand, began allowing consumers to view their report today, whenever they like, at no cost. This follows a six-month trial.0

Hi all. I'm hoping for some inside knowledge! I just got my credit report from Experion today for the first time. I have a good credit score - phew - but there are a couple of searches on my report - apparently from debt recovery agencies - that I don't remember giving permission for and I don't know what they could be about. Both of the searches took place in 2010. One was by Hillside Services Ltd and the other was by Apex. I don't know of any debts I have that they could be trying to recover and there's nothing that appears on my credit report to say that I have any debts currently outstanding or defaulted on or anything. Should I contact Equifax to query these searches or just let sleeping dogs lie as they don't appear to affect my credit score. What do the experts think? Thanks!0

Thanks for information. I have visited both the sites for free credit details information. I found it interesting and useful. I recommended these both sites to my friends too.0

I am now an avid checker of my credit score since about a month or so a go. Mine and my fiancee's scores are poor at the moment, both about 670, but I'm confident we can improve these. :j
The thing is, my fiancee's bank account does not show on his report. This is the account he gets his wage paid into, and we use everyday?! It also has an overdraft of £140. He has had the account since high school (so defo about 20 years!)
Any thoughts on this?!0 -
The score means nothing you are wasting your time. Lenders don't see this score it is for your reference only and means very little. All that matters is the data on your report is correct. You should also get your £2 report from experian and your free one with noddle.
Very true !!The views I express are purely my own and do not represent any views of my employer.0
