Wood from the Bonfire

As price of heating oil running at 25p a lt. Back up your heating with a fire. Wood burning stove. There is plenty of unwanted wood about. The local bonfires for Nov5 have builders dumping wood. Suggest collecting from there..... but watch out that the kids don't see you nicking their bonfire!!
Also old pallets a good fuel source also old books from charity shops.

Not sure I would be brave enough to nick stuff from kids bonfires, at least not these days!

Thsi isn't something I can personally recommend, but I have a friend who used to throw used disposable nappies on the fire. As these aren't biodegradable and she is someone I would think of as environmentally friendly I think there may have been method in her madness.

Certainly, anytime I was there, there was no pong and they seemed to burn for hours.
