The time is near!

Just had a letter from my pension company telling me that the time is near to my selected benefit day July 2008.
I know there has not been a lot of contributions gone in over the past few years and don't expect big payments, they have offered four options in the letter and the fourth one is a triviality option for funds less than £16000 I believe mine is just below this sum would I be wise to take the money and how is this done and what are the implications of this.
It does state I don't need to make a decision yet until nearer the date.
I am just over 60 and recently became un-employed with no new job yet! if ever it seems.
